The Caloundra Spinners & Weavers group meets every Tuesday from 9am – 12pm.

This small, friendly group is very versatile and competent in producing work of the highest standard. Members help maintain spinning and weaving skills and techniques that have been passed down for generations.

We encourage the development of ideas that make this craft more relevant to modern lifestyles. Spinning and weaving techniques are as modern as today and continue to develop and change. Group sessions are happy occasions where knowledge of wool craft is exchanged.

LEARNING SPINNERS GROUP

New to spinning? A Learning Spinners Group will start on Saturday 3 October 2026, from 9 am–12 pm, and will meet fortnightly.

These Saturday sessions are ideal for anyone wanting to learn spinning techniques, explore different fibres and develop their skills. The group leader will provide guidance and demonstrations, with some “homework” to be completed between sessions.

Have a spinning wheel? Great—bring it along! If you don’t have one yet, there’s no rush to purchase a wheel or buy your own fibres. Several wheels will be available for beginners to learn on initially. Members will need to have their own wheel after the first couple of weeks, and the group leader will provide guidance on choosing one.

Fibre for learning and practising will be supplied at a nominal cost.

Members share roles and responsibilities required to run and maintain the group. They also help with the set up and running of the two annual CACA Artisan Fairs, where they have the opportunity to sell their work. Additionally, some members have their work for sale in North Street Made artisan gift shop.

A warm invite is extended to visitors to come and see what we do. We welcome new members, enquire for a trial session!
