Our creative community doing great things

Community… Connect… Create… Celebrate!

Vincent van Gogh once said, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”

So true—and it doesn’t apply only to art. At Caloundra Arts Centre, we believe it speaks to the bigger picture of our community as well.

As a registered not-for-profit charity and community organization, we are deeply committed to giving back. Every program, partnership, and creative opportunity we offer is designed to strengthen community connection, support inclusion, and make the arts accessible to all.

Not only do we reinvest any surplus funds directly into our programs and facilities, ensuring the Caloundra Arts Centre continues to nurture the arts, creativity and wellbeing–we also extend our impact beyond our walls by donating goods and funds to other organizations, supporting the broader community and causes aligned with our values.

During 2024–2025, Caloundra Arts Centre Association and several of our member groups contributed significant financial donations and handmade goods to 40 organisations.

Cash donations exceeded $10,000, supporting groups such as Scouts, RSL, Cancer Council, Salvation Army, Rosies, Twinnies Bird Rescue, SunnyKids, Wishlist Sunshine Coast Health Foundation, and many others.

In addition, thousands of dollars’ worth of handmade items were donated, including quilts (valued at approximately $45,000), rugs, toys, trauma teddies, clothing, toiletries, jewellery, embroidery, woven goods, and other craft items. These were distributed to hospitals, age care facilities, domestic violence services, foster care organisations, community centres, emergency services, and families in crisis across the region and beyond.

Speaking of bringing a series of small things together, this is an incredibly grand outcome!

Overall, the combined efforts of our members demonstrate a remarkable commitment to supporting the broader community through both financial contributions and meaningful handmade donations.

Let’s take inspiration from this and continue doing great things—together.
