Sustainable Floral Art from Your Backyard

To create our own naturally dried botanical masterpiece, we don’t need to visit a florist or use artificial materials. Simply step outside and explore nature or your garden — no matter how small.

Viera will discuss choosing botanicals for drying, their characteristics, and methods of preservation without chemicals. Topics will include eco-foraging, growing your own flowers for drying, the longevity of dried flowers in humid Queensland conditions, constructing sustainable bases, and more. The talk will be supported with examples and demonstrations.

About the Artist

Viera Keogh is a self-taught floral artist whose work celebrates sustainability, nature and creative design. Using naturally dried botanicals grown in her garden and mindfully foraged from the rainforest, she creates wreaths, wall hangings, wearable art and sculptural floral pieces. Viera has presented work at exhibitions, festivals, fundraising events and shows, receiving several prestigious awards. Through her workshops, she shares her passion for creating beautiful, long-lasting botanical artworks using sustainable methods.
