DESCRIPTION:WONDROUS WINTER WORKSHOPS\nWhimsical Weaving – Working with fibres (Sat 18 July)\nwith Paula Boo\nNote: There are two sessions available: Saturday 18 July or Sunday 19 July. You are currently on the booking page for Saturday 18 July 2026. \nExplore a playful and intuitive approach to basketry and fibre art by creating small woven sea creatures using natural fibres and vibrant raffia. Moving beyond traditional weaving patterns\, this workshop encourages experimentation with texture\, form and colour. \nThis meditative and tactile workshop welcomes all skill levels and celebrates creativity\, imagination and the expressive possibilities of fibre art. \nIn this workshop\, you will: • Learn adaptive weaving techniques using Cocus Palm and hand-dyed raffia • Explore how to soften\, shape and work with natural fibres • Experiment with alternating direction\, tension and pattern to create sculptural forms • Create your own whimsical woven sea creature inspired by ocean life and organic shapes • Discover how texture and colour can evoke movement and fluidity \nBy the end of the workshop\, you will have created a unique woven creature and gained a deeper appreciation for how natural materials and imaginative techniques can bring tiny worlds to life. \nSkill level: All levels of experience \nCost: Non-members: $150 Members: $130 (contact workshops@caloundraartscentre.org.au or contact Susan our workshop coordinator on 0408 967 738 to pay the member price) – Includes all materials – Coffee & tea provided \nNumber of participants: Minimum: 5 Maximum: 15 \nWaiting lists are available for fully booked sessions.
